Williamsport, PA at a Glance
Situated in Lycoming County near the Appalachian
Mountains and the Susquehanna River, Williamsport witnessed the birth of the
first organized children’s sport, Little League Baseball. At the Little
League Museum, visitors learn about the growth of Little League, from its
early stages in Williamsport to being played in over 100 countries. The Community
Arts Center features 1920s-era architecture and a 2,000-seat theater, which
has hosted performances by Bill Cosby, David Copperfield and Willie Nelson. For
over 35 years, the Williamsport
Symphony Orchestra has brought classical music and more to the area. The Thomas
T. Taber Museum hosts five paintings of 19th-century, still-life painter Severin
Roesen as well as over 300 trains and two working displays in the LaRue Shempp
Model Train exhibit. A visit to Williamsport is not complete without a tour in
the Hiawatha
Paddlewheel Riverboat (open May to October), featuring public cruises, Sunday
brunches and dinner cruises and sunset cruises.
